One of the world’s most popular private banks – the ICICI Bank has announced the launch of virtual mobile app development contest. It is calling the developers from India for creating next generation apps for mobile banking. ‘ICICIAppathon’ offers more than 50 API’s from banking, insurance, and financial service sector for the prototype development. These APIs will be handy for the developers in creation of mobile application prototypes.
#ICICIAppathon will be judged by the unbiased jury consisting of elite leaders from startups and BFSI segment. Their judgment will be based on five different criteria including uniqueness, business potential, functionality, user experience & scalability. So, the candidates taking part in this Appathon needs to make sure that their prototype should consist of above mentioned criteria in order to attract the jury’s eye.
ICICIAppathon Partners
ICICI has partnered with NPCI and VISA for the ICICIAppathon and will also provide their APIs to the developers. This means that ‘Unified Payment Interface’ API and ‘Payment’ API from NPCI and VISA will be available to these developers taking part in this Appathon.
Who all can participate in ICICIAppathon?

ICICIAppathon Drive Registration
The participants can make a registration on the website www.iciciappathon.com from February 16 – March 1, 2016. The shortlisted candidates will be listed by 5 March, 2016. They will be given complete access of API hosted on IBM Bluemix platform.
Once the candidates had been shortlisted, they have to prepare a working prototype of innovative mobile banking service using the financial services and virtual banking APIs. They will be given access of these APIs from March 5 and have to submit their prototype by March 27, 2015.
After the evaluation made for those prototypes submitted by the candidates, the finalists will be announced by April 7, 2016. These finalists will be then invited to ICICI Bank headquarters, Mumbai for competing in Grand Finale that will be held in mid of this April.
ICICIAppathon Prize Money
The top 3 winners will win prizes from pool of Rs. 20 lakh and an opportunity of potential engagement with ICICI Bank will be given to them. These 3 finalists will also be given an opportunity to be mentored by event partners. These winners will also get fast tracked entry into ’10,000 Startups’ of NASSCOM. The two members from team will even get access network & co-working community of the 91springboard across India.
